I will incline mine ear to the parable, and shew my dark speech upon the harpfrom Psalm 49
Getting in touch with your inner Ogden Nash?
Bob,I have this nagging fear that Mr Nash used the hymnal/crymnal rhyme long before I did!dylan
I don't know if Nash did; it doesn't ring a bell. However, the Scots beat you to it by 279 years. (Google is my friend.)
And a pendant to the post:Unless your song,Try ever so,Sounds like aLaryngitic crow. The phrase "laryngitic crow", alas, is not original; I cribbed it from the move "The Comedy of Terrors" (in which Vincent Price, Peter Lorre, Boris Karloff, and Basil Rathbone display considerable comedic talent).
I like it very much!
