They could have gone the whole hog - totus porcus - and done the geographical names in Latin also. Patriotici Novae Angliae sounds well enough, as does my own favorite team, Gigantes Novi Eboraci. I’m afraid places like Dallas, Washington, or Cleveland would have to be used more or less as is; and what to do with Greek derivations (Philadelphia, Indianapolis) is beyond my engineer’s Latin. But that still leaves the Arctatores Sinus Viridis and the saint cities such as the Undequinquagintatori Sancti Francisci or (I confess I like this one better, for the sound) theFulgurifactores Sancti Iacobi. And then there’s Buffalo, which is named after the American bison, which is neither a buffalo nor the European bison (aurochs) which the Romans would have known - ???
