I will incline mine ear to the parable, and shew my dark speech upon the harpfrom Psalm 49
+JMJ+I don't know about Morrissey's lyrics/poetry, but my experience with BritPop has convinced me that song lyrics aren't always poetry: sometimes they're just words to be added to an instrumental track in order to make it more marketable. Those songs don't deserve to be mentioned in the same breath (finishes exhaling and takes another deep breath) as intricate pieces of wordsmithery.
Then, of course, there's the remark attributed to Auden that whatever is too silly to be said can be sung!
