I will incline mine ear to the parable, and shew my dark speech upon the harpfrom Psalm 49
Thank God we have access to the original.
The distorted lyric sounds like something from an '80s alternative band ...
Incredible...that's exactly what my sister and I thought, too! (Didn't make much sense, but neither did most of the best of '60's pop. Also, a girl who is a muscular boy probably should be avoided...)
Ellyn,This isn't the only instance of my having shared a mishearing of a lyric with someone else. I remember that a high-school chum of mine and I both thought that Neil Diamond was singing about "The Reverend Blue Jeans."And back to '60s music, what about that Beatles song "And Elaine is in my ears and in my eyes"?
That song's reaching back, I would've thought, a bit too much for a young(er) guy like yourself!
TS(O),I watch (listen to?) MusicChoice's Solid Gold Oldies channel, which covers the mid-'50s to the early '70s, everything from Fats Domino to Three Dog Night. But you're right, I grew up on '80s alternative, Smiths, Cure, etc.
